Keep up the fantastic work Ronie. Engvid is the best website ever.

maher10

I would like you please to post a video on how to use (a), (an), and (the) in a sentence. I understand the basic but what I am looking for is to explain in details and list the exceptions, if any.
for example this sentence,
“the presentation I delivered was received with great satisfaction.”
now, why wouldn’t I put (a) before the word (great). To me, it should be “with a great satisfaction”. But anyway, I think you understood what I am looking for.

Please post a video on this.
Thank you

sadon

French fries… It’s a very funny name because no one really knows the country of origin of these fries… (French and Belgians both say that they invent this way of cooking!!!) But I remember the period when Americans change the name “French fries” to “Freedom fries”…!!! They did that to protest against the decision of the French government not to follow the USA in the war against Iraq… (anti-French sentiment!!)… Such a noise for so little pieces of potatoes!!! :)

Nice stuff! I’d also mention “tea” that actually means “dinner” in England…
About the “jacket potato”, I’ve always thought opening the potato made it look like a “jacket”, although “open coat potato” might have been a more visual term lol

We could have a whole separate lesson about “tea”!
