In English, modals are used to express possibility, permission, and also advice. In this lesson we will learn which modals show advisability and how to use them properly.
The lesson helped me to understand much better how to use these two modal verbs properly.
Knowing the boundaries of meaning of modal verbs helps a great deal understand their use.

Here’s an advice: try role-playing. For instance, get a good movie on DVD, set the language and the subtitles to English (or better, get the movie script off the Internet), and try speaking as actors do. Then, when you’ll know whole dialogues by heart, try ‘acting’ the scenes as naturally as possible. Remember to turn the subtitles off, or you’ll end up looking at people’s feet in everyday’s life! ;-) Joking…

Hi James, it’s nice to meet you!
I’m a newcomer at this site and I find it very helpful. So far I’ve watched about 30 of your short lessons and I really like your style of teaching, basically your easy to understand explanation and interesting examples + illustrations (you are really good at them) + impersonation that makes me feel like I am really sitting in the front row of that classroom, like I really am your student.
The only request to you would be to give examples to each case you mention the particular word is used in. For instance, if you say that modal verb SHOULD is used both when it’s a right thing to do and when there’s a deviation of expectation, then, please, give us a sentence to each situation.
Thanks for your attention!
