Thanks Adam. Im dying to watch more your videos.
Frankly speaking, I wasn’t in the mood for making comments on today’s lesson, however I changed my mind after having watched the video.
There were some expressions that I’d never used or rather heard before. They will definitely make my spoken English sound more natural.
Superb lesson Adam!!! Thanks for all the effort you have put forward.

Hi Adam,
Thank you very much for preparing this interested lesson.
We have been waiting for your fantastic lesson about how to construct a noun, adverb and adjective clause.
Also, I would like to suggest one lesson about the book which is called (The Art of Styling Sentences). It is an outstanding book that can help us significantly. We will appreciate it.
http://barronseduc.com/0764147838.html
Thank you
Thiago from Brasil
Thiago, Where can I find this book here in Brazil?
Hi Carlos,
I only recommend buying this book if you know very well what is:
a noun, adjective and adverb clause
Simple sentence
Complex sentence
Compound complex sentence
It is very a good book for advanced English student. You can’t study this book without a teacher. I have suggested this lesson to Adam and I hope he can read it.
Thiago
Looks good Learner. Thanks :) I’ll look into it.
Hi,there.Only these lessons could hit the spot.I really feel like more vocabulary. Adam I have question? In quiz we use not only dying for,and dying to also.Is it right?dying for or dying to or both?Thank you a lot!!!
Hi Rahatbek,
You are dying to do something (verb). I’m dying to go on vacation.
You are dying for something (noun). I’m dying for a vacation.
Meaning is the same, but form is different.
Thanks alot, sir
Thank you very much Adam!!!
I feel like watching more of your videos ;)
“My kingdom for…” is an interesting expression! I have never heard of it. Thank you, Adam :) BTW I’m in the mood for sleeping now…hahaha ^^;
Sweet dreams Happy :)
Hello Adam ,
My kingdom for a good mark. I failed the 4th question . I really felt like doing the best that I did wrong. That sucks.
Bye , thanks and carry on
Thank you.Very usefull.8/10
Thanks, Adam.
But I would like to ask:
‘opposed’ and ‘opposite’ what is the difference?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Sophie,
Opposite means not ______.
The opposite of good is bad (or not good).
Opposite can also mean facing (he sat opposite me on the bus).
Opposed means be against (he is opposed to hiring new staff).
Does this help?
I’m opposed to listening another teachers excepting Adam :) It’s easy to listen you. Keep doing the same spirit!
Well done,,thanks a lot
Thank you, Adam!
Thanks to this video I’m just in a good mood)
I’m glad to hear it Linochok :)
Great lesson, Adam! Thanks!
May I ask a question? Is there other meaning or use for “feel like” besides “wanting”?
I’ll appreciate your answer.
Jose.
Hi Jlourenco,
Yes, feel like can be used to compare something to something else to give a sense of the first feeling:
I feel like a giant. (If I am standing in a kindergarten surrounded by little kids, I will feel very large)
Or literally have the touch/feel of…:
That material feels like silk (though it is not silk).
A: What is that material? B: I’m not sure, but it feels like silk (guessing it is silk).
Does this help?
Hey Adam!!
Thank you very much for the reply. Helped a lot!! And congratulations for the great job at Engived!
Jose.

A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse! I can’t remember where this is from, but it’s a great saying.
Shakespeare :)
Indeed. I don’t have enough chances to use it, and that’s just a shame.
My kingdom for a chance to quote the Bard ;)
I thought that “A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!” said Nutcracker. Adam and Alex, explain me, please, differences in pronunciation between “want” and “won’t” (sorry for my English).
My bad. Only Russian Nutcracker says “A horse! A horse! Half kingdom for a horse!”. He repeats King Richard.
Hi Kuramovoz,
Try rhyming:
want– font, haunt or the wan in wander
the fon in fond, the pon in pond, etc.
won’t– the bon in bone + t
Hope this heps. Difficult to explain pronunciation in type ;)
Wonderful lesson! Very important to expand vocabulary and go deeper in the language. Thank you.
Exactly Dude…

Thanks dear teacher .
I am dying for some strawberries right now.
Thank you for this interesting lesson, Adam. :)
Hi Adam. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a question. Can we say “A hamburger hits the spot”? or is using “would” necessary?
Hi Maisy,
If you’re thinking to have one (but haven’t yet) then would is correct.
If you just finished the hamburger, then you can say that burger hit the spot.
Is the sentence “whenever I feel hungry, a hamburger hits the spot” correct ?
Thank you. Good point.
Thanks, I crave to watch more your videos.
Hello Adam, since this is the first time I send you a message, first of all I would tell you that I’m improving a lot with your help.
About the current topic, just a doubt. I think the verb FANCY is used as WANT one, doesn’t it?
Thank you in advance and please keep teaching us
Best regards
Hi Antnio,
You’re absolutely right. I forgot about that one, but maybe it’s because it is not so common in North American English. It’s more of a British expression.
Thanks, Adam! MY KINGDOM FOR ENGVID! :)
Even my king for a block of black chocolate, Adam.
Kingdoms are more interesting with a queen :-D
Indeed Antonella :)
Thank you Adam, your lesson is essential right.
Tnx, Adam!! xxx
Hi teacher, is ok if I ask: “up for a pizza”?
Hi Pudding,
Yes. That’s a good expression too, but mostly for asking:
Are you up for …?
It’s also about an activity more than an action or a thing. If you say “are you up for a beer?” it’s more about going to the bar than the actual drink.
Hope this helps.
Hit the spot is most funny.Thanks.
Thanks a lot
I have felt interesting in all of your lessons Adam. I am craving for your new video :D

Hello Adam, great lesson! Why transcripts on youtube are incomplete? On the site EngVide should have transcripts of the lessons, it helps a lot!

10:10 :D
I`m the beginner, but it’s a very helpful lesson . Thanks a lot, Adam.
I need more examples of the idiom “hit the spot” =(
Hi Aleksandra,
If you have been thinkin gof something for a long time (for example, a particular food), but haven’t had it, then it’s like having an empty space inside you. When you have that thing, it hits the spot, meaning it fills the empty space and you feel good :)
Does this help?
Thanks a lot, Adam =)
Thanks for this great lesson.I enjoyed some more words which can be used instead of generally used want word.
My kingdom for your more videos :D)this is very dramatic and interesting as well…
100… Thanks Adam for this lesson

Adam is so amazing that i can focus in lesson!!! If i dont change the teacher, i wont learn anything!!!!!

Sorry, I took the liberty of re-writing your post. Hope you do not mind.
Ciao
thanks Adam ,and I am graving for watching more English videos on engvid
Thank you for the lesson Adam.
“My kingdom for a horse” – very interesting because russians say “A half of kingdom for a horse”. You can see whom the horse is more important.
Maybe Russia is so big, you don’t even need to trade the whole thing?
I think that is about people…
:)
Adam please help. Tell me which is more used in America:
1 I can see 5th Avenue from my house.
2 I see 5th Avenue from my house.
3 5th Avenue is seen from my house.
(of course I don’t stay and watch for 5th avenue all the time)It is just seen.
Maybe there is another way for it?
Thank you.
Hi Katrin,
1 is correct. Because you don’t look at it all the time, you want to mention that the possibility exists all the time (of seeing it). That’s why can is necessary.
Thank you Adam! That explanation is more than clear!
Thank you Adam
Very good lesson professor!!
Thanks everyone :) I’m glad you enjoyed this lesson. I’ll make more like it.

Hello…How about the expression “What do you fancy?” or ” What would you fancy?”or “I fancy…” .I’ve heard it sometimes…
Hi Maury,
You’re right. Fancy is another way to say want, but it’s more of a British English thing :)
It’s really nice. I love It :)

Hello dear Adam
In the question number 2 , why the first choice is not correct ?
Can you give an example with “have big eyes for” ?
best regards
Hi Saeed,
Actually, we don’t have an expression in English like this.
You can see he has his eye on something, means he wants it (He’s got his eye on her = he likes her)

hi Adam >> I am a little upset .. I got 7 out of 10
But the lesson is enjoyable And helpful >>> AND ADAM VIDEOS in everyday morning would really HIT THE SPOT … see you soon
thanks adam…its really helpful
thanks… you’re the one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever seen.
Please, someone might review the grammar of this short text. Thanks in advance:In this video, Adam is teaching us how can we do to express a desire use different expressions and without using the word ‘want’, it means to say want in different ways. Those are order in a hierarchy, starting with expression use when we want less, to the expression when we want absolutely something or emphasize and exaggerate something. Those are would like, feel like, go for (use with could), be in the mood for (this is the only thing that satisfies me right now, nothing else), be craving (a really strong desire), dying for (you haven’t had it for a long time), hit the spot (only thing that’s going to satisfice me) and my kingdom for. The last one is very rare and it’s a phrase originally from the Shakespearean literature.
Thank you so much, Adam! My mother was surprised when I said this for dinner. “I am in the mood for rice and bananas with mangoes, please!” I replied :).
thanks adam
Thanks Adam. I am craving to watch more your videos.
hi Adam, do you teach private lesson in Skype?
OOps , I just get 6/10
I’m a little confused about the difference between every ” want ”
May be because I was really hungry and that lesson has a lot of foods :)

A few days ago I found this website from Weibo, now I’m craving to watch your movie every day,It’s a good way to learn English, thank you Adam
I like ur style in learning :D
Hi Adam, what about fancy like I fancy a cup of tea
Great way to express your needs. Awesome video as always. Thank you for new vocabulary.
Hi Adams thanks for wonderful lesson. but I have a question about this lesson.
which one is true ? dying for something or dying to something ? you taught as ‘ dying for something ‘ in lesson . I guess that I am confused .
You are dying to do something (verb). I’m dying to go on vacation.
You are dying for something (noun). I’m dying for a vacation.
Meaning is the same, but form is different.
thanks Adam you are incredible teacher
Adam looks like Shakespeare!
Hi Adam! I ran into your videos very recently. Since then I’m catching up with your lessons. I really enjoy them! You give very clear explanations and good examples. It’s so easy to understand you.
I have a simple question here. You said: “I feel like a pizza” meaning “I want to have a pizza”. I always thought that it was necessary to put a verb in between. E.g. “I feel like having a pizza”. Are these two ways of saying it exactly the same? “I feel like a pizza” sounds kind of weird to me. I know we are not supposed to translate to our own languages, but in Spanish it would be something like: “I feel similar to a pizza”. In fact I usually hear expressions such as : “I feel like an idiot”, “I feel like a monster”, etc. Thank you very much!
Thank you adam i’m saliving for see more video for you
My kingdom for a new videos.
thx adam. i’ve got 80 scores :)

thank you so much for this useful lesson. it helps me a lot because before i watched this video i have wathed a movie and i didn’t understand most expressions that actors and actresses used when they’re in a restaurant.
but i have a question Adam. what is the different use of the word ‘want’ and ‘need’? thanks in advance!
Hello Mr Adam i want to give me way to speak english very well please help me than you
If you need to speak English very well there is many ways to do that .. .my opinion is you can learn by watching movies so you can improve your listening English and for speaking you can repeate what you hear in the conversation in these movies but if you have someone to talk with him in English it’s better because you need to practice how to speak English with people … I hope its helpful for you.
what is the meaning of the sentence “I haven’t had pizza in ages” ?????
That means he is not eating pizza for long time … Sorry for bad grammar but I just explain the meaning
10 out of 10
7 of 10 , I feel like I need more practicing …
are these words for edibles only???
It is good lesson
