There are three words in English you must know to master the language. Do you know which ones they are? In this lesson you will be taught the first: have. We use this word in basic sentence structure, but it has other uses, too. Do you know its basic meaning? Do you know the five ways that have is commonly used? Watch this lesson now and find out!
Teacher is very clear in the explication. I need to get more video, on topic.

Excellent James! Why is future perfect connected to the past? If I say I will have finished my hw by 8 PM. Does it mean I started studying before now? Hello James,
I have a question in regard to using “have” in sentences like these:
1. You have to have it done for tomorrow.
2. We need to have our car repaired for Monday.
3. I think I should have the letter sent at the latest tomorrow morning.
4. They should have had it done two weeks ago.
5. I had to have it done for yesterday, while you still have plenty of time.
Are they (any of them) grammatically correct?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks :)
anakonda81
the frist you have tow event you should know it
1-present perfect .
2-present simple .
these senteces are present simple
because there rule say
sub+have /has +obj+p.p
for example
I have my car fixed
thiss means i pay money to some one to fixed my car .
not me that fixed my car
and and the event is present simple .
————————————-
If i said
I have fixed my car .
that means i fixed my car not elst someone .
and this event is present perfect
thanks …
Hamed
Hi Hamed,
You shouldn’t answer someone’s questions if you don’t even know what you are talking about… What you wrote is really chaotic and does not explain anything…
Satya
Cześć Bracie ;).
Widzę, że James nie odpisał, więc mogę napisać odpowiedź, mam doświadczenie z j. angielskim.
1. OK – może dziwnie brzmieć z tym podwójnym have, ale możesz ew. napisać “You should have it done…”
2. OK
3. OK, tylko zamienić miejscami wyrażenia – “at the latest” zwykle daje się na końcu zdania. Więc: I think I should have the letter sent tomorrow morning at the latest.
4. OK
5. Tutaj zdanie jest niezrozumiałe. Yesterday jest pomieszane z teraźniejszością – you still have. Może chodziło Ci o: I should have had it done yesterday, when you still had plenty of time.
Ogólnie w tych przykładach występuje “have something done” – czyli oddajesz jakąś czynność komuś innemu, aby za ciebie ją zrobił.
Pozdrowienia :)

“Has” means the same as “have”. The only difference is that you have to use the right form according to the subject of the sentece – the person.
I – have
You – have
He, she, it – has
We – have
They – have
You (plural) – have
Hope I helped you. ;)

Then “have” means “connection” and his 5 main features would be: Action, Possession, Necessity of modals, modals with the past and Perfect Tenses. We have learnt how to use these features and now we have a little more reported about “to have”. Thanks a lot, teacher James Greer from EngVid, enjoying to learn more concepts of English.

“Has” means the same as “have”. The only difference is that you have to use the right form according to the subject of the sentece – the person.
I – have
You – have
He, she, it – has
We – have
They – have
You (plural) – have
Hope I helped you. ;)

Thanks James. I’ve learned everything!
The basic meaning is “connection”, thank you for your sharing.
Great, i’ve got 100%. Good explanation teacher.
nice video but sound is not so good it seems to be in a mine or in an empty room
Thanks.
Then “have” means “connection” and his 5 main features would be: Action, Possession, Necessity of modals, modals with the past and Perfect Tenses. We have learnt how to use these features and now we have a little more reported about “to have”. Thanks a lot, teacher James Greer from EngVid, enjoying to learn more concepts of English.
thank you ^^
Thank you, Mr.
Thanks!
You got 6 correct out of 6.
thank you so much.
I have been cooking my dinner…….

I have always seen meanings of the verb ‘HAVE’ that are confuse, it replaced some words in different way when written in portuguese. Great lesson James! Thank you.
I watched this video one more time on January 01, 2022, and took the quiz after watching it. I got six correct out of 6.
