Native English speakers love to use expressions to show how they feel and think. In this lesson, I will teach you 12 common expressions that use the verb think. Some examples include It's later than you think, Don't think better of it, Don't think twice, and think big. Watch the video to add some useful expressions to your English. You will think the world of this lesson!
Indeed! whenever Gill makes a video lesson, I watch it right away without overthinking it. It’s not that I think the world of her, but I really keep criticizing myself when I miss one of her lessons, “what was I thinking?!” I tend to tell myself. After all, to become a very advanced learner you have to think big, but remember, don’t think aloud or you may look weird in front of people. Come to think of it, I can’t remember how many times i find myself thinking out loud walking down the street. One day, an old woman took me as a fool, though I think it’s quite normal to think aloud. I did have an idea to go and see a doctor, but I have thought better of it. AY ay ay! some people these days tend to think of themselves as doctors.

To think, thought, thought, it’s an interesting and amazing verb to conjugate. I thought that I had an idea but if you did have an idea, then what is the difference. It has been a little difficult to me to identify the sense of every sentence because they are literally done, built and written, then you have to associate a meaning with the phrase and then use it but sometimes it wasn’t very clear in the questionary. Thanks a lot, teacher Gill, I think you have got the best British accent to understand the pronunciation of the sounds in English, it is a pleasure to listen to you, madam.

It has been a little difficult to me to identify the sense of every sentence because they are literally done, built and written, then you have to associate a meaning with the phrase and then use it but sometimes it wasn’t very clear in the questionary. One detail that I had thought, was to end with a preposition in a question or exclamation like “What was I thinking ABOUT?!” or “What were you thinking ABOUT?!” Thanks a lot, teacher Gill, I think you have got one of the best British accents to understand the pronunciation of the sounds in English, it is a pleasure to listen to you, madam.

Dear Gill,
Congratulations on this new lesson! It’s really amazing! I admire the interesting way you usually teach us. These expressions related to the word “think” are quite helpful for our everyday life.
You always help us to speak more naturally and with more confidence. Many thanks! :)
By the way, I also liked that other video about the British political system. Would you mind making a lesson about the British aristocratic system? I mean, about the titles like Kings, Dukes, Earls, and so on, and how to treat them (for instance, “your Lordship”). Moreover, you could teach us about the differences between the House of the Commons and the House of te Lords if you please.
Thank you in advance!
Eduardo França
Hi Eduardo — thank you for your kind words — I’m glad you like my videos :-) Thanks also for your suggestion — I made a new video recently about aristocratic and royal titles, so that will be appearing in due course. All the best with your English studies!
