I got 6 correct out of 10. I was confused. But later I understood No. 8. BTW when my friends died I was down in the dumps. They passed away when they were twenties and thirties they were too young :( Anyway, thank you for your lesson, Alex. Helpful :)

I thought ‘Down to the wire’ is an adverb but on the quiz it looks like an adjective.
My example sentence is that “I’ll do my best down to the wire.”
However, on the quiz I saw the sentence “It’s going to be down to the wire”
So, is my sentence wrong?

From here, ‘down the drain’ is noun?
Or what part is it grammatically?

I’ve been down in the dumps in the last few days, because I was camera-caught making a right turn on red light without stopping first. I may get a $500 ticket. That’s $500 down the drain! I should have been more down-to-earth instead of daydreaming when the yellow light came down to the wire before changing to red. LOL. Thank you for your down-to-earth lesson.
