Great class teacher i’m about to study much more!!!!
I liked this lesson! Fast, short but very usefull.
Hi Emma:
Quick question: Why do you & other teachers on Engvid never include IT as part of the 3rd person singular?. I’ve seen that in some of your lessons, as well as in some of Ronnie’s & James’s ones. Please, include IT, IT’s important: IT (The bomb) is about to explode.
Thanks & greets from Argentina (Hope it is from England someday)
Marcelo.
As we know it is used for things that we do imply, especially for animals. Eg:the cat is a calm animal. It is sweet. Now the word “sweet” is a word of expressing that the cat is sweet. That is why I think the teachers don’t include it because it is easy and secondly there is no detailed explanation of it.
I AM ABOUT TO LEAVE
I am about to take the quiz! Thanks again Emma.
i am about to interest english grammer
Very nice class Emma. Thanks!!
Hi, Emma!
Thank you, but I think is not common

I’m about to work. Thank you, Emma. It’s useful :)
I am about to use ‘about’ to in real life English.
Hi Emma! Is it acceptable to use this structure in any formal conversation?
Yes
Eg:
BOSS: Why didn’t you started your work?
EMPLOYEE: Yes sir, I am about to start my work.
It’s great to learn with quiz. I am about to proceed next.
Thanks
Thanks Emma it was very useful and easy to understand!

You are great as usual.
Thanks a LOTTTT…
Can I also say like this, “I was about to + verb”
to express the past action.
No
About to is used only in the future, not in the past.
yes, you can use it like that. “I was about to call you when you arrived.” in this example you are narrating something that happened in the past.
Hi Emma. I wanna know if BE ABOUT TO is different from BE GOING TO. Thanks.
Firstly, “be about to” is no word. It’s always about to.
Eg:
I am about to start my homework. This is what will happen in the future.
And “Going to” is again no word.
Eg:
I am going to be a doctor. This is what you aim at the future.
Firstly, “be about to” is no word. It’s always about to.
Eg:
I am about to start my homework. This is what will happen in the future.
And “Going to” is again no word.
Eg:
I am going to be a doctor. This is what you aim at the present
Hello, Pakpao.
First and foremost do not listen to Palakshi, she(he) does not speak English well enough to give any advices.
“About to” and “To be going to do smth.” are quite similar regarding to actions in near future; but “to be going to” contains elements of preparations or evidences, while “about to” contains elements of immediacy or urgency.
Well if you are interesting what will become sooner “about to” or “to be going to”; the answer is “about to”.
Have a nice day.
So, “I am about to” is an immediate action that will happen very quickly. “I am going to” is in the near but indefinite future. It is an intention. Is it right ?
Thanks Emma!!Nice lesson!
tks Emma
We are about to learn a lot of English with teacher Emma, it will be very nice and useful. Thanks a lot, it has been a very interesting lesson, overall the listening as always.

Indeed She is, Mr. Inaldo. I read your inspiring profile. Your good intention of sharing will surely bring you mountains. God bless you and your wife.
what is difference between ABOUT TO and GOING TO
when are use ABOUT TO and GOING TO ?
About to is when you will start your work in the future whereas going to is when you are going to start at present.
Eg:
I am about to start my presentation
I am going to my relatives house.
