Congratulations Rebecca (Your name is the same as my daughter). Excellent explanation of such an important term in English.
salmo40
Is “not at all” used instead of “You are welcome!” in modern English?
For example
John: – “Hey man, you helped me so much. Thank you!”
Alex: – “Not at all! It was a piece of cake.”
yankhonskiy
Yes, it is used. Good for you that you know that. My best to you.
Rebecca
Thank you , Rebecca.
yankhonskiy
but which is correctly?
Anuar is from Kazakhstan
Оба правильны!!!
Both of them are acceptable.
yankhonskiy
Good lesson Rebbeca, I enjoyed this…

I’d like to know how to use “All along” and “All alone”. Sometimes when I hear them, it’s very difficulty to know which one the person is saying.I think the pronunciation is very similar.
Thanks
henry19
Hi! well, they are really similar, especially in a fast conversation. You have to pay attention to the context. All along means “from de beginning, throughout” while all alone means “completely alone”. Ex; I knew the answer all along. / She did the work all alone.
denise77
Yes, denise77 has submitted a good answer to your question. My best to both of you.
Rebecca
Very good!
I can’t stand stupid people at all!
denise77
Haha! Denise77, why do you think that a person who speaks the language worse than you is stupid? He can play chess better than you (chess needs good thinking, analysis and much practice and theory), or he can be a good mathematician. For example, I didn’t speak English well 5 years ago, but I won many math Olympiads, as well as many chess tournaments. And now I communicate with Americans, Canadians, British and so.
yankhonskiy
Recently, most of the teachers don’t respond to the comment of engvid at all.How come?I hope you are not one of them.thank you.
cuongchung1
Who, me? Thanks for watching our lessons. My best wishes to you.
Rebecca
Hi Dear teacher Rebecca. I do agree with you. I could say you are the most active teacher on this forum.
It’s just ineffable how grateful I am, you are that kind of committed teacher.
By the way, I would like you to explain to me about linking words, for example: when I wrote … how grateful I am (missing link) you are that kind of committed teacher. I have felt this two sentences unconnected, incoherent. Could help me please?
Thanks in advance.
All the best!
albertejy
Errata: … these sentences.
Could you help me, please?

Thanks a lot Rebecca !!
please answer about this questions
1. I do not have any idea about this subject at all . ( is this sentence correct or no )
2. would you like to have dinner with me tonight?( is this sentence mean I will bay the money or no )
3- what is the best way to invite someone to have dinner ?
basharh
Sentence 1 is fine except I would say:I don’t have any idea at all about this subject.
Sentence 2 is fine and usually means that you will pay, unless the person suggests otherwise before accepting your invitation.
Sentence 2 is an excellent way to invite someone for dinner.
All the best, Yousif.

Correction, Beccy: ‘At all’ can also be used in general questions, e.g ‘Do you like anyone in your English class at all?’ (meaning: ‘at least one person in your class’) …
sabbatical
Hey, Beccy! I have lots of American pals and they only use the phrase ‘even a little bit’ with the verbs ‘like’ and ‘enjoy’ but never ‘understand’ eg. ‘I didn’t like / enjoy the show even a little bit’ or ‘Did you like / enjoy the movie? – Not one bit.’
sabbatical
Thanks a lot.

Very good Lesson.
Hi Rebecca! I don´t get to stop watching the engvid´s lesson at all. :D Best Regards from Brazil
Hey Rebecca,
I thought you stopped of publishing videos, long time no hear… thanks multiplied by thousand for this great helpful lesson, day after day I begin like this site more and more and I can’t wait to see the next lesson, thanks once again for your great efforts.
With deep respect and appreciation,
Yours truly,
Taha
Thank you, Taha for all your kind words. My best wishes to you, too.
wow i get 9 correct out of 10. thanks so much my teacher
I took the test, I got 90.
me too
Congratulations Rebecca (Your name is the same as my daughter). Excellent explanation of such an important term in English.
Is “not at all” used instead of “You are welcome!” in modern English?
For example
John: – “Hey man, you helped me so much. Thank you!”
Alex: – “Not at all! It was a piece of cake.”
Yes, it is used. Good for you that you know that. My best to you.
Thank you , Rebecca.
but which is correctly?
Оба правильны!!!
Both of them are acceptable.
Good lesson Rebbeca, I enjoyed this…
I’d like to know how to use “All along” and “All alone”. Sometimes when I hear them, it’s very difficulty to know which one the person is saying.I think the pronunciation is very similar.
Thanks
Hi! well, they are really similar, especially in a fast conversation. You have to pay attention to the context. All along means “from de beginning, throughout” while all alone means “completely alone”. Ex; I knew the answer all along. / She did the work all alone.
Yes, denise77 has submitted a good answer to your question. My best to both of you.
Very good!
I can’t stand stupid people at all!
Recently, most of the teachers don’t respond to the comment of engvid at all.How come?I hope you are not one of them.thank you.
Who, me? Thanks for watching our lessons. My best wishes to you.
Errata: … these sentences.
Could you help me, please?

please answer about this questions
1. I do not have any idea about this subject at all . ( is this sentence correct or no )
2. would you like to have dinner with me tonight?( is this sentence mean I will bay the money or no )
3- what is the best way to invite someone to have dinner ?
Sentence 1 is fine except I would say:I don’t have any idea at all about this subject.
Sentence 2 is fine and usually means that you will pay, unless the person suggests otherwise before accepting your invitation.
Sentence 2 is an excellent way to invite someone for dinner.
All the best, Yousif.

Hello momen22. I don’t think you can use “you’re really my favorite teacher at all”. Because the teacher said we use “at all” for negative sentences.
Am I right teacher? :)
Please Rebecca I have a question .
When we ask by using (IS) and when we ask by using (DOES) ?

helo,

Correction, Beccy: ‘At all’ can also be used in general questions, e.g ‘Do you like anyone in your English class at all?’ (meaning: ‘at least one person in your class’) …
Thanks a lot.
Thank you
