be
, do
, and have
. We will go over each one in detail and with examples. First, you will learn how to use be
in the passive and progressive forms in the present, past, and future. Then, we will look at do
in the present and past simple. Last, I will teach you how to use have
in the future, present, and past perfect. Plus, we will discuss the positive and negative use of do
as an auxiliary verb”. Whew! There’s a lot of material here, so make sure you do the quiz at the end to test your understanding.

me too :) Thanks Ronnie

Thanks a lot
Hi Ronni. I thank you for the lesson. One question . A present perfect sentence like „ I have had to work on Sunday“ should be in the perfect past „I had had to work on Sunday“, shouldn’t it? I am not sure whether the word „had“ has to be used twice. Could you correct me if I am wrong. Greetings from Germany.
Hi Ronald ,
You can use present perfect or past perfect according to the moment in Time things happened . I had had to work is definitely right . Now I wonder if “on” is correct in this sentence for past tenses . More investigation need to be done .
Bye
Thanks Ronnie, this lesson was great..

Hi Ronnie. Thanks for the lesson.
Why sometimes people use the aux. verb “do” in simple present and affirmative sentences? Example: “I do like pizza.” instead of “I like pizza”.
Hello Evandro .
“do” is to empasize the verb of the sentence . In your case it means that you really like pizza , so do I
Bye
Hi Ronnie. Thanks for the lesson.
Why sometimes people use the aux. verb “do” in simple present and affirmative sentences? Example: “I do like pizza.” instead of “I like pizza”.
Hi teacher, liked the idea of let us know the main auxiliaries, but tried to cover all of them in one lesson is too much, You left to much out, this lesson should be divided in three parts/lessons, Thanks.
Nesse caso Evandro é só pra evidenciar, enfatizar que a pessoa realmente gosta de pizza. O “DO” tbm tenha essa função.

Hello Ronnie,
First time of your lecture and I have so much fun. I decided to keep watching.
However, I am not sure about the differences among present pp, past, and past pp.
For example, I haven’t had lunch, I didn’t have lunch, and I hadn’t had lunch, not clear at all. Would you teach me the tense differences?
Thank you so much for your concerns toward English learners like me.

Hi Ronnie, Can you make a video explaining the terminologies used in cricket?
Recently, Steve Smith was in the news for ‘ball tampering’. At first i didn’t understand this term.
Later i googled and found out that it means ‘unlawful alteration of the surface or seam of a ball on the field, to affect its motion when bowled’. It would be helpful if you can make a video explaining some basic terms used in the sport.

Hello Ronnie,
Excuse me I don’t got it in the sentence 9 and 10,
What’s the method who let us to identify the time for using 9- have and 10- been ?
Sentence “Christine didn’t ___________ her assignment on time, so she failed the class”
We have do/failed in the past, why do we use (finish) instead finished or finishes ?
How are you,Ronnie?
I apologize for the emotionality, but I have to tell you that I adore you and your learning.I have doubts about question no.8.If Gina(she) is the doer, why don’t we use- has?Thank you in advance.
Thank you Ronnie.
Zlizoks, how are you?
The question number 8 is about a Future perfect simple. form-
We use will + have + past participle.
Plus, after will use base verb, for instance: will do, will go. Don’t use will does or will goes.
Thank you Ronnie
Thanks Ronnie :)
