Do you know when to use capital letters in titles? It seems so confusing. Some letters are capitalized and some are not. In this lesson, I focus on the extra-confusing words—the ones that are sometimes capitalized and sometimes not! You’ll learn the easy capitalization rules for writing about subjects, courses, companies, workplaces, occupations, and job titles. You’ll also learn how to capitalize the names of movies, shows, books, songs, reports, articles, and more. You can do this—watch and learn!
:) Wohoo! Got full. I’m feeling mind blowing rebecca after watching this video. You delivered that necessary knowledge which made me feel so efficient :) I am proud and blessed to have a teacher or a friend like you. I can’t thank you enough. Keep teaching and make me more smarter like you. :) <3
Annie
Thank you very much, Jasmine. I am so glad you found the lesson helpful. Here’s another small tip for you: remember that we just say “smarter” and not “more smarter”. We do this with almost all adjectives that are made up of one syllable, such as cold and colder, big and bigger, and smart and smarter. All the best to you!
Rebecca
Hi, Jasmine. In addition I dare to give you one advice. Don forget to capitalize names. For example Rebecca. Nice to have met your here. Bye.

Great website for learning English.
Cherry Nemenzo
Hello Rebecca. It is a pleasure to watch all your lessons. I always learn something new. I’m from Chile. The capitalization in Spanish is very similar to the one in English. Except, that we don’t capitalize adjectives like spanish, canadian, the days of the week, the months of the year, when they are in the middle of the sentece. For example: La niña colombiana nació un día martes en enero. The Colombian girl was born on Tuesday in January. Thanks for your excellent teaching. Best Regards
isabelita
Thank you kindly, Isabelita. It is always a pleasure to hear from a fellow teacher. Thanks for sharing this interesting information about Spanish. All the best to you and thank you for watching engVid!
Rebecca
By the way, what languages don’t use capital letters?
isabelita
A long list of such languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, and many more.
Rebecca
Are you from Mexico Rebecca? You look like a Mexican.
phonetd
Thanks a lot! I still confused about articles before capitalazed names. We do not use them with person’s names and surnames, but do use here “The Toronto Public Library”, “The University of Oxford”. Went to figure it out.
Evgeniy
Actually, Toronto Public Library is the correct name, without the article “the”. The same goes for the University of Oxford. The article “the” is not part of the name, in those cases, so it is not capitalized. You might have seen the word “the”
capitalized if it was the first word in the sentence. Hope that helps. All the best!
Rebecca
Wow!!! 10 out of 10
