Knowing how a word functions in a sentence helps to understand both its meaning and use.
The examples on the video clearly show the usage of this word family.
Many thanks for this vocabulary lesson Rebecca.

Ameen
Hi Rebecca,
Thanks a bunch for your lessons. It’s been very helpful. I have a question here, why do we use “ANY MISTAKEs” (with “s”) instead of ANY MISTAKE? Thanks in advance.
All the best.
maniimani
Dear Ms Rebecca,
Thanks for teaching. I am doubtful about the correctness of this sentence that for me has no sense: “She is a success”
For example, we may say: “She has a success in her business” or “It is a success” is more meaningful.
I guess we could say: ” She is successful”.
So, could you please explain me a bit more if I am wrong?
I appreciate of your efforts.
Yours sincerely,
Shahab
It is certainly correct to use the noun “success”, and describe someone as a success, just as we can say that a certain movie was a success, or a business is a success. Similarly, a person can be a success. It is also correct to say that the person is successful, as you have noted.
All the best to you, Shahab. I wish you much success in your English studies!
Rebecca
It’s great for me,basic grammar, it will help me became a successful business person, haha
Xiangdan Han

A couple of famous quotes about success:
“Nothing succeeds like success”, and
“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”.
Regards.
Mauro
Wow, your English is really good, Mauro. Thanks for sharing those famous quotations with all of us. My best to you.
Rebecca
that phrase it’s in all dictionaries
be original mr mauro
julio
Dear Mr. julio,
I don’t remember seeing your comments on other posts, so I was left wondering why this one on ‘being original’ seemed to be so important for you. Maybe a teacher could tell you better than me that teaching is not about ‘being original’, but I prefer this quote, ‘A successful quote is the one that succeeds at not being quoted as original.’ Regards.
Mauro
i recognize my mistake mauro
u were right
sorry for try to minimize your quotes

Hi Rebecca,
This is Anil Kumar.Your lessons are very interesting and your voice clarity is also very well.I Hope i could get some what english knowledge from this site.If there are any grammar mistakes please execuse me…
Anil Kumar
My English is too bad. what should I be doing to improve it?
Ali
Rebecca, thank you for this great lesson, now I know the difference among these four words. I would like to beg you to explane me something. For example, why we say “If I were you”, and not “If I was you?” In high school we have learnt that when we use I, He, She or It, in that case we use Was, and You, We and They, then we use Were. What’s the rule here or there is unwritten rule?
Mark
When we say “If I were you”, we are using the subjunctive tense. It is correct and educated to use this tense in this way. You can read more about the subjunctive tense in a good grammar book to understand more clearly.
All the best to you, Mark.
Rebecca
it was a great lesson i was looking for

Hi Teacher
Great lesson! Usually you native speaker starts learning from listening to writing but expect those native speaker we all are starts from Writing to Listening but we have still missing speaking so that why we couldn’t understand English perfectly like native speaker could, Although we read our English books at our school & colleges perfectly but we don’t speak it in our normal conversation.
So could you please provide us any platform through your website where we can communicate with native speakers? It helps us a lot because it’s very difficult to you and other teacher to give feedback to everyone. I hope my English is good enough to understand.
Thanks

THANK YOU REBBECA. WE´RE VERY GRATEFULL WITH ALL ENGVID TEAM, BUT I´D LIKE TO KNOW, WHY IN NEWS PROGRAMS, THEY WRITE: PRESIDENT OBAMA TO VISIT RUSSIA TOMOROW, FOR EXAMPLE; OR, U.N DIRECTOR VISITING CONGO
ilprosecutor
They write that way because they are writing headlines. Headlines are not full sentences, and do not follow grammatical rules. They have to be short phrases instead of full sentences because space is limited in a newspaper.
Thanks for writing and all the best to you.

Could you PLEASE make lessons on other verb Teses such as Present Perfect, Present Perfect Continuous, Past Perfect, Past Perfect Continuous, Future Perfect, Future Perfect Continuous. Especially I’d beg you to make it for Future (Perfect & Perfect Continuos Tense) because I’ve almost never had an opportunity to meet them anywhere. very informative and help full videos thanks for making such informative videos
Knowing how a word functions in a sentence helps to understand both its meaning and use.
The examples on the video clearly show the usage of this word family.
Many thanks for this vocabulary lesson Rebecca.

Hello teacher Rebecca,
That’s kind of you to correct my mistakes.I really got a lot of useful things ,especially you .
With best wishes,
Ameen.
Hi Rebecca,
Thanks a bunch for your lessons. It’s been very helpful. I have a question here, why do we use “ANY MISTAKEs” (with “s”) instead of ANY MISTAKE? Thanks in advance.
All the best.
Yours sincerely,
It is certainly correct to use the noun “success”, and describe someone as a success, just as we can say that a certain movie was a success, or a business is a success. Similarly, a person can be a success. It is also correct to say that the person is successful, as you have noted.
All the best to you, Shahab. I wish you much success in your English studies!
It’s great for me,basic grammar, it will help me became a successful business person, haha
I sure hope so! All the best to you.

Dear Mr. julio,
I don’t remember seeing your comments on other posts, so I was left wondering why this one on ‘being original’ seemed to be so important for you. Maybe a teacher could tell you better than me that teaching is not about ‘being original’, but I prefer this quote, ‘A successful quote is the one that succeeds at not being quoted as original.’ Regards.
i recognize my mistake mauro
u were right
sorry for try to minimize your quotes
my apologizes

it’s a really very good website that’s healping students in learning and improving english as well.
Hello teacher and my peers. Does anybody knows where can i find a list with verb, adverb, adjective and noun all the same???
You could check some ESL vocabulary books. They sometimes have such lists or exercises. Thanks for the idea, Rey. Perhaps I will add a resource like that to our site.
All the best to you.
It’s Useful ! Thanks for the tutorial!
thank you so much…

suc ce ss that you way spell success.
Yes, rhymes like that always help us to learn more easily and effectively. I still remember that from the time I was in high school! All the best to you.
I’m sorry to corrected you manhacker but you are forget the word “the” between that and you…
Hi Rebecca,
This is Anil Kumar.Your lessons are very interesting and your voice clarity is also very well.I Hope i could get some what english knowledge from this site.If there are any grammar mistakes please execuse me…
My English is too bad. what should I be doing to improve it?
Rebecca, thank you for this great lesson, now I know the difference among these four words. I would like to beg you to explane me something. For example, why we say “If I were you”, and not “If I was you?” In high school we have learnt that when we use I, He, She or It, in that case we use Was, and You, We and They, then we use Were. What’s the rule here or there is unwritten rule?
When we say “If I were you”, we are using the subjunctive tense. It is correct and educated to use this tense in this way. You can read more about the subjunctive tense in a good grammar book to understand more clearly.
All the best to you, Mark.
it was a great lesson i was looking for
really thank for this lesson
Thanks
Ashu

I didn’t succeed to reach the quiz
thank you teacher iam really happy to understand that
:)
They write that way because they are writing headlines. Headlines are not full sentences, and do not follow grammatical rules. They have to be short phrases instead of full sentences because space is limited in a newspaper.
Thanks for writing and all the best to you.
thanks.. this is very helpful
Thank you

one more thing: different between using have/has +3rd verb tense and the have/has been +ing it looks similar so in some cases can we use the both for the same cases?

Rebecca, I’ve noticed that you teachers from EngVid always focus your attention to learn us the basic verb tenses – first six such as Present Tense, Present Continuous Tense, Past Tense, Past Continuous Tense, Future Tense and Future Continuous Tense. Please Rebecca, If you cannot make it, then who can?

et maintenant pour les spécialistes…
-Français: trois sorcières suédoises regardent les boutons de trois montres swatch suisses. quelle sorcière suèdoise regarde quel bouton de quelle montre swatch suisse?
