Can you find the mistakes? “I am student”, “I am agree”, “Yesterday, I’m go downtown”, “He no have money”, “I want to meet the downtown”. If you don’t know, this is the lesson for you! These are mistakes made by students of all levels, so watch this video and learn to avoid these common errors. Don’t forget to check out our other video on 5 common English learner mistakes.

Thanks a lot teacher Alex, it’s so helpful a video! I’ve got a question though. Well, I’ve been studying English for about 3 years now and unfortunately none of my teachers could ever explain the real difference between “no vs. not” to me. I wonder how these 2 simple words can/must be used properly. An example could be: I have no money OR I don’t have money. Which is the most suitable and common way to express that? Is there a grammar rule or something? Is there a difference in meaning? What kind of things can we say for negating something using “NO”? In what others we can/must use “NOT”? That piece of information will be extremely useful for me teacher Alex. I’d really appreciate your help, I’m looking forward to your response. Best regards from Bolivia!
P.S.: I enjoyed and more importantly learnt a lots of things from your other videos.
EngBadStudent

Hi. Some verbs are used with , be, . For example : Are you interested in English ? Is she responsible for the accident ? …… In these verbs we have be + adjective and mostly a preposition. Best regards.
Soei
Agree is a verb must have auxiliary verb (to do).For example (do you agree with me?Can not go with verb (to be).If you say(are you agree)It sounds very weird.

hamzaalobaidi
hi professor,
with the sentence: “we went downtown”, I have a question about the word “go”: we can say like that, we don’t have to say we went TO downtown (no need preposition)?
with the sentence:” he doesn’t have money”, can we say: “he has no money”?
Hi. to is used after go for some places not all ot them. And the second question is correct you can say it also.
Soei
Well, the sentence “He has no money” is absolutely right, however in the quiz the stated sentence is “He NO has money”, which is wrong.
The sentence “I’m go downtown” is partially wrong due to the verb be (AM–‘m) though the statement “I go downtown” is also incorrect by the lack of preposition and the deficiency of proper auxiliary verbs.

Thanks a lot sir Alex. Some of the quizes excites me everytime I get the perfect score. It reminds me of the past when I was studying. Knowledge is just like a line. Hi Alex I have a specific question to ask regarding Negative form/ Interrogative form – Present and Past tense of the auxiliary verb to HAVE. I have heard native speakers saying differently. For ex. Have you ( got ) any…. OR Do you have any… ?; I haven’t ( got )any …Vs I don’t have any ; I hadn’t any…. OR I didn’t have any…; Had you … vs Did you have ? The use or not of DO/DOES/DID with ” have” Auxiliary verb in Negative and Interrogative sentences. Thanks a lot
ANGIE
Hi. Both forms are correct. One is American form and the other is British. But nowadays we use do , does and did with these verbs to make them negative or interogative. Best regards.

Who could tell me, why calling verb “be” is “to be”, calling verb “do” is “to do” in vedio? please, it’s really confusing me.
yandong
These verbs have infinitive forms . Like , to go , to help , to see …….
we have , to do ,as a main verb and it’s different from ,do, that we use to make sentences negative or question . I hope it helps.

Thanks a lot.

Thank you, excellent video, i got 100.
Best regards!!!
Thank you, I really liked the video!
P.S.: I enjoyed and more importantly learnt lots of things from your other videos.*

Hi. Some verbs are used with , be, . For example : Are you interested in English ? Is she responsible for the accident ? …… In these verbs we have be + adjective and mostly a preposition. Best regards.
Agree is a verb must have auxiliary verb (to do).For example (do you agree with me?Can not go with verb (to be).If you say(are you agree)It sounds very weird.
Excellent answer
Thank you so much, and I have learned alot

ALeX, I want say thank you for the 5 comma , it was very good and you are able and strong to deliverer the class and all information perfect .
thank and we need more .
hi professor,
with the sentence: “we went downtown”, I have a question about the word “go”: we can say like that, we don’t have to say we went TO downtown (no need preposition)?
with the sentence:” he doesn’t have money”, can we say: “he has no money”?
I had the same questions)))
Rebecca explanes this stuff here https://www.engvid.com/6-ways-to-use-go/
Hi. to is used after go for some places not all ot them. And the second question is correct you can say it also.
I got 100 Yes
Thank you, got 80% without watching.

Thanks a lot sir Alex. Some of the quizes excites me everytime I get the perfect score. It reminds me of the past when I was studying. Knowledge is just like a line. The more you underline the line itself the more thicker will be and becoming bold and visible. That’s what I hear to some philosophers long time ago.
:D easy :D

I got 10/10 thank you alex
Thanks!
Thank You alex! now i knew my mistake..”i have no money”
Hi. Both forms are correct. One is American form and the other is British. But nowadays we use do , does and did with these verbs to make them negative or interogative. Best regards.
That’s good

Who could tell me, why calling verb “be” is “to be”, calling verb “do” is “to do” in vedio? please, it’s really confusing me.
These verbs have infinitive forms . Like , to go , to help , to see …….
we have , to do ,as a main verb and it’s different from ,do, that we use to make sentences negative or question . I hope it helps.
Thanks a lot.
