all
, most
, some
, and none
. Do you say “all of them is” or “all of them are”? The answer is easy when you know the rules. In this grammar lesson, I explain subject-verb agreement, indefinite pronouns, and countable/uncountable nouns. This is especially important for business emails, academic essays, and IELTS/TOEFL/Cambridge exams. To follow up and master this subject, watch my lesson on countable and uncountable nouns and download my free resource, with lots of examples. No more subject-verb errors for you!

Who was deceived by the news like me? :) (8:23)
Yes, the word “news” is certainly confusing, because it seems like it’s plural, but it is in fact, singular! All the best to you!
Rebecca, thank you very much for your actual and inspiring lessons. Every time I find out something useful from them.
Thanks so much Rebecca and all team

Rebecca, thank you so much for this refreshing lesson about subject-verb agreement:-D, I just did the test before watching the lesson and I had 4 sentences wrong. Then, I watched it and I noticed why I made those mistakes. Excellent explanation and I will review countable and uncountable nouns to be better when writing or speaking.

Thank teacher. All of your lessons are amazing and I usually try to improve my English skills with your teaching.
Great lesson!
But I think “none of + noun” is a little bit different from others after I learned from Adam’s lesson and looked up some information online.
When the sentence begin as “none of + plural noun”, the verb can be the singular or the plural. just like:
None of the students is free to go.
None of the students are free to go.
Both sentences are correct. but the explanations are different.
Adam says we tend to say” None of the students is free to go.” and “None of the students are free to go” is an informal way.
But the explanation online says, ” None of the students is free to go.” focus on the individual,
and “None of the students are free to go” focus on the group.
Can you give me some advice, Rebecca?
Thanks a lot
Thank you!
