front vowels
. I’ll help you pronounce these vowels correctly by showing you what your mouth and lips should look like during pronunciation. We will practice the vowels together and compare them to each other. Watch my mouth as I pronounce different vowel sounds and make sure you’re doing the same with yours. Many English learners have a hard time with pronunciation because English is not a phonetic language. So I will show you the different spellings of these sounds in English. You will also learn what the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) symbols for these vowels are.

Pay, eight, laid, and play all have the same vowel sound. In the International Phonetic Alphabet, this sound is represented by an “o”.
True.
False. These words have the same vowel sound, but they are not represented by “o” in the international phonetic alphabet.
False. These words do not have the same vowel sound. Each of these vowel sounds are different from each other.
I didn’t understend even my answer is correct !? ??? Could you explay my please Emma ???
The vowel sound is represented by the symbol “e”.
So the second answer is right.
Thank you,Emma. This video is so awesome.
It is useful lesson! Thank you, Emma!
It is very hard to recognize, because my mind do not used to IPA who has created this theory.
I imagine how complicated it must have been for you… even so, don’t give up, keep doing hard and you’ll get there! :)
Oh Thank you very much, for your inspiration.
yeah its good suggestion without hard work nothing is possible
I’ve ever heard that studying a language which is completely different from our mother tongue is much better to our brain. The most important organ needs to be exercised \o/

thank you Emma I learned a lot and I want to learn more I’m looking forward to your next video
thank you Emma it’s important lesson
Thanks Emma!!Interesting lesson!
Very useful lesson, interesting and exciting. I have to review these front vowels more time because it’s question to practice a lot, I have a little problem with “i” and “I” when I have to identify a word, as with “ae” sometimes because I studied that there are 5 different types of the vowel “a” and we have to pronounce them correctly. I thought that there was 12 vowels in English plus the sound “-ly” that maybe the 13th vowel, therefore they have to listen so many times to identify them. Thanks teacher Emma, it was a very good explanation.
thank you emma for this useful lesson as usual, but why don’t put the spelling ‘ea’ like in ‘great’ with the group which makes the sound ‘e’ and how about examples the spelling’ai’which makes the sound ‘ae’.
It was a very interesting lesson to know the proper phonetics for each front vowel. Thank you Emma!
thanks a lot lady

I think vowels are just: a,e,i,o,u. There is no Y
Hi LeTranBaokhoa, There is 6 vowels and Y is one of them. It is the same in French to. However she said that in CAKE the E is not a vowel. It is actually but a SILENT vowel. Some vowels are voiced and some are not voiced depending on their position in the word.
Perfect Lesson Emma. It’s always awesome watching your videos. Each person from different cultures has a different difficulty to pronounce, because of the phonetic , however, whether we continue practicing, probably, we are going to get better pronunciation.

Thank you very much Emma for the really helpful lesson. By the way, I have learnt many sound which is including almost all vowel sounds and many consonant sounds. But the thing is I can pronounce these sounds individually but it is difficult to pronounce these sounds together when I’m trying to pronounce a word. Could you please create new lesson about what are the things which should be done someone like me to go to the next level. Thanks.
Dear Emma!
Thank you very much for your eye-opening lesson. I think for all the Russian ESOL, it is crucial knowing this. In fact, in Russian alphabet and sound system, these differences simply don’t exist.
I wonder how do English natives distinguish between them. Moreover, what is the best way to practice them apart from mirrors?
So far, thanks to you, I’ve understood the difference between these sounds. However, when I encounter them, I don’t realize what is the right sound to make. It’s really hard for me. How can I make them pronounced automatically? What’s the mechanism or secret behind it?
Looking forward to your answer.
Best wishes,
Artur
