-ow
. It can be said in both a long sound and a short sound, by opening or closing your throat and lips. In this lesson, I’ll explain the pronunciation of some common words ending in -ow
. Some of them can be pronounced in two different ways and have two different meanings. But most of them can only be pronounced in one way. Some of the words you may already know, but others will be new, so you will expand your vocabulary, too!

hi Souhaib – don’t worry, you could try watching the video for a second time, and a third time if you wish. And keep watching all the different videos available – language learning is a slow process, but a very rewarding one :-)

Very useful lesson. I have a question. Is there any way that you can know immediately a new word that contains “OW” sounds “a-oo” or “oh” without looking dictionary?
hi – there isn’t really a logical way of knowing this – you just have to learn each word. The best way is to check in the dictionary, or try an online dictionary with audio clips so that you can listen to the word :-)
Thank you so much
