I’m going to share with you some quotations from the famous English novelist, Charles Dickens (1812–1870). I hope you find the quotations thought-provoking, and perhaps you’ll feel inspired to read one of his novels, or watch one of the many film versions of his stories. I will read and discuss quotations from Great Expectations, The Old Curiosity Shop, Hard Times, David Copperfield, and Barnaby Rudge.

Dear Mrs.Gil, I like to be introduced in British literature in such a clear way you teach.
Thanks a lot. Yes, Charles Dickens knows us very well. Times may change, but human beings never.
Thank you Madam for helping me learn a little more about Charles Dickens. So, I found the film “hard times” in English and I will try to see it, if it is not too difficult.
Bonjour Gil. Very interesting lesson. As usual! I love Dicken’s world. Remote and close at the same time. Fascinating always. I think lot if his novels have been adapted for the screen. And, I suppose there are several versions for the same novel. What are, in your opinion, the best versions ? Why not a video about this subject? Merci.
I quite liked the lesson :) and will be a lot happier if you do more of these kinds of stuff.
Thank you so much for your lessons! I love your voice itself, not to mention the knowledge you give.
Thank you very much indeed!
