Fluent English: 40+ ways to answer “How are you?”

A-okay reminded me of the line of Sesame Street song ;). Well, this type of lesson is quite practical for me for a rainy day. It seems so basic, nevertheless, I always try to reply in somewhat different way. Thanks!

Thank you for choosing a topic that I wanted to learn, Alex. I have a question. When asked “How are you?”, some people reply to me with “Not too bad.” By this, which do they mean good or so-so? I’m not really sure.

“Not too bad” is similar to “Not bad,” which just means “Okay” or “So-so.” It has a neutral feeling, but it can sound positive depending on the tone.
