THEY
, THEM
, and THEIR
when talking about one person? In this lesson I’ll explain why this is done to avoid specifying male or female gender. I’ll give some example sentences to show how it works, and I’ll include a test that we can do together towards the end of the video. And there’s also a quiz for you to test your understanding.

Thanks a lot, Mrs.Gill for your very actual clarification why this is done to avoid specifying male or female gender. I mean using the plural pronouns THEY, THEM, and THEIR when talking about one person.
70/100
thank you
Thanks Teacher Gill, this was very hopeful.i got 9/10 I believe if I continue practicing I will be there on top very soon.

Thanks Gill. I got 10 correct out of 10.
Gill nice meeting you and I welcome you for the good work you have been doing. I would like to continue especially writing letters and emails. My English is not good and hoping you can be a good mentor for me. Thanks! Thanks!
It’s very wonderful
Thank you, Gill!
If you use the word “it” instead of the word “they”, would it be very rude?
Hello – yes, “it” is rude when referring to a human person. This non-gendered pronoun is used mostly for objects, concepts and living creatures such as insects and animals.
Thank you I got 80/100
Thank you for teaching us! Using pronouns when you don’t know the gender could be tricky, especially when your fisrt language is Spanish. In Spanish we don’t use pronouns in these cases because of the way we conjugate verbs… thank you.
Thanks a lot Gill for this video. Very interesting topic about speak and grammar! Thanks.
Thank you for this nice class! It was informative for me and gave ne some new knowledge.
Really useful
Hello,
I hope you all from the Eng Vid team are very well!
Please, in question number 9, couldn’t I have used ‘it’ referring to the film? Thank you for the classes, and I look forward to your reply. See you!
Thank you for this new knowledge teacher.
Nice one!
Thank you so much!

thanks
At my first time I got 80/100 point. I think if I will put all of my energy staying concentrated here I can get 100/100
The quiz is tricky. My grade is not advanced, but this lesson is quite informative. Thank you very much.
Firt class with you Teacher Gill, I like it. 8/10 I’ll be studying to improve.
Absolutely amazing, thank you teacher Gill.
Dear Ms Gill, thank you for this lesson. I know, you are a just woman. But languages never develop as we like. Therefore I am afraid that in daily conversation this gender speech has no chance, perhaps a little more in writing.
This quiz is tricky I got 8/10. But I should say that lesson was very helpful and important for me, definitely I recommend to watch the video. Thank you.
Thank you Gill! good presentation! I learned a lot from this video. The theme should read what is a subject pronoun verses objective pronoun.very important subject in grammar
Thanks Gill
Gill! The last two I got wrong, you mentioned the gender! I did the opposite.
