Hi Roya!
Could you please give me an advice for learning English, In September I’m going to study an English course, it would be very useful to hear or know what a master English student has a say on the language.
Thanks in advance!
Hello Basri,
Are you going to do a course in your country or abroad? Your English seems good. If you want to improve your language, you need to learn English vocabulary every day. And you know, you shouldn’t forget about English grammar. All in all, you should surround yourself with this language. That is listening to the music, watching TV, reading newspapar and so on, all in the English language. And after a while, you will see your results. I hope this will help. If you have other questions about English, you can write to my e-mail.
Best Regards,
Roya.
Thank you for replaying to me, it was kind of u!
I am going to attend an English course abroad(actually the country I was born at, hehehe, Sweden)
Your advice was really helpful, thank again!
Ok I will write and ask you anything I wonder, hehehe if you don’t mind :)
Best Regards
Basri
Hi Pilar. I’m interested in Learning English.I would like to practice with you English and to be your friend. This is my skype id: hamid.abdi90 .Hope you will text me soon
Hi Pilar, I’d like to practice my English with ya, please, contact me: andre_donizeti@hotmail.com
Always excellent classes! Thanks Emma!
Really thanks!
You caught me in the exercises where you used “in spite” instead of “despite”
Despite = In spite of but despite is more formal. h
Hello,
“In spite of” is always followed by “of” + gerund/”the fact that”/noun, while “Despite” is NEVER followed by the preposition “of”.
For more examples you might as well check out the “Get it right!” section at http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/british/despite
Un cordial saludo,
David
Thanks, David !:)
Hi Emma,
Another fantastic lesson. Congrats for your great job.
But I still have a question: is it grammatically correct to say “I personally prefer/think/believe…” or this adverb “personally” is redundant?
Thank you.
I DON’T THINK THAT ADVERB WOULD MAKE THE SENTENCE HEAVY OR REPETITIVE. WE COULD ALSO SAY I GENERALLY THINK OR REFER THEREFORE THE ADVERB YOU HAVE USED INTENSIFIES OR STRENGTHENS THE PERSONAL OPINION AND DOESN’T REALLY TURN THE MEANING WRONGLY
it is very useful lesson.
Thank you Emma :)
Thank you
Tnx emma for the useful lesson……

Hi. Thank for the clear lesson.
DESPITE the cristal-clear lesson, I have a doubt:
Is it mandatory to add the comma when starting the sentence with a subordinate clause?
“Although I prefer skiing (,) many people prefer running”.
Somewhere I saw that british grammar makes it optional (not a mistake like the quizz states).
Sorry for the spelling mistakes done before. =)
Should I use “Despite” followed only by a name, not by a verb as you said?
Can’t I say “Despite LOVING the beech, I prefer the mountain”?
Thank you.

Hi Emma & everyone~
why some times the punctuation of however diverse
……………;however,………….
and other times we use
.However,
wish a quick answer
I think that this “;” (semicolon) is commonly used to link ideas (to show that the second sentence is a contrast to the first sentence in this case).
I guess that there is no difference between that two structures and both are correct. :)
