“a”
give English learners a hard time. Why does “caught” rhyme with “pot”, while “laugh” rhymes with “half”? In this lesson, we will look at the different ways these words can sound, and I will provide some tips on how to pronounce these words correctly. I will show you the IPA symbols for the different pronunciations of this letter also, but it’s okay if you don’t know IPA.

Hi, Adam. These quizes were difficult for me.
Because I’ve learnt English pronunciation by Jones
method. (Japanese method) .
From today, I’m going to restart learning pronunciation by IPA.
Thank you.
Hi Adam,
thank you for this interesting revising lesson.
I would like to ask about all the words in the first column.
According to Oxford Learner´s Dictiontary, their IPA pronunciation is with /ɔ:/, for all of them.
Is it the same ?
Thank you very much.
Adriana
Hi Adrijana,
You mean the column with the words call to law? Yes they do use this pronunciation.
It is an informative and rich educational video.
Thank you Teacher Adam
Thank you teacher Adam.

Thank you adam… But really ıt’s not easy
Thanks everyone. I know it’s not easy, but with practice it will become easier.
Good luck. :)
Hi Adam, I took the quiz but realized one of the questions was out of context. The third question ”Share” rhymes with Pear. You actually don’t cover the sound of Share/Pear in your video or am I wrong?
Hi Tutkugncu,
Share and pear rhyme with care and air.
Look at the top right of the whiteboard in the video.
Hope this helps.
thank you Mr.Adam
