Want to improve your listening skills? In this lesson you’ll practice your listening in English by hearing stories about university life. This video is especially important if you are studying in an English university, if you plan to, or if you are going to take an English test like IELTS or TOEFL. You will hear conversational English with university and academic vocabulary, including common slang and expressions that native English speakers use. View or download a free resource page with this lesson’s vocabulary. Also check out these vocabulary lessons to learn the words used in this lesson: Learn English Vocabulary: The people you will meet at UNIVERSITY and University English: Expressions and Vocabulary.

Hi, dear Emma.
I appreciate your efforts and I’ve learned so much from you and other great tutors on this site.
I’ve watched about 450 videos of this site from a few month ago till now, but I expected more improvement from myself to understand movies.
All I’m saying is I wish you and other great teachers worked more in real life English, Not grammar or IELTS.
Personally, I don’t believe in grammar unless you are great in speaking and listening.
As a matter of fact, native English speaking kids can speak and understand more than all of us!
Even an uneducated English person can do that.
If you want to speak English fluently you should not begin with any grammar lesson cuz it makes you think when you wanna say a sentence and it’s against speaking fluency !
The words should come out easily without any thinking like your native language.
I hope I was clear enough.
Last but not least I really hope you teach us more speaking and listening material instead of grammar.
Thanks for your efforts.
I really appreciate what all of you doing here.
I like you all and wish you the best.
Thanks.

In addition, I would like to make friends around the world. So, if anybody share the same common, please contact me htlbydgod@gmail.com and skype htlbydgod@163.com. I could communicate with somebody else to practice spoken english.
HI! What mean these expressions- ace the test , pull an all-nighter, drop a course and hit the books? Can someone explain to me?
Aytan
I am not sure about the phrase “ace the test” as well. But I think it means “to do very well in the test or exam” > please go to Cambridge dictionary online and search the word “ace”.
Example> I was up all the night studying, but it was worth it. I aced my chemistry final. < it means he did his chemistry final really well.
pull an all-nighter means study all night especially before the test day.
drop a course – I think it means – stop studying a class while his semester or term. (not sure)
hit a book – read a book.
Hope it will be helpful.
Thank you.
