Learn English: “because” or “because of”?

It helps to know how a given word functions in a sententence, but on other occasions don’t or rather it is not necessary to know it. The latter applies to today’s lesson.

For instance, I’m sure most of us use these two words correctly, but did not know how they both functioned in the text.

It’s correct to speak “I’m in trouble because of you”, right? (Is it) because “you” in this case is not a subject of any clause, but a simple noum?
