Today we’ll work on our vocabulary by reading an article from an online UK newspaper, The Guardian. This article was written by Julia Kollewe and Rob Davies, and it’s about robots being used to pick raspberries. You will probably encounter some new English vocabulary and expressions. We’ll learn words such as: quivering, shift, tweak, punnet, and expressions such as let loose. I recommend reading this and other articles aloud, to help you with pronunciation and fluent speaking.
In my opinion, low-skilled workers will slowly (but surely) be replaced by robots. I took a look at the original article in the Guardian and it was written earlier than 2020. Guess how many improvements they could have been since then??The only thing it can slow down a bit the use of automatic machinery is the price of electricity. In Spain, it has sharply increased this year, while the labour costs keep more or less stable.
As always, a pleasure to watch your videos and learn English with you.
Thanks a lot Gill ;)
