Noun + Preposition Phrases (NOT Phrasal Verbs!) with Body Parts
Many English learners find it hard toget their heads around expressions with prepositions. Many times they think these are phrasal verbs. Actually, they are just prepositional phrases, or collocations with prepositions. Anyway, they just don’t have the stomach for it, so they get their backs up when it comes to these lessons. Don’t worry. In this class, we look at prepositional phrases using body parts as the nouns, like let your hair down, get the pulse of, put a finger on, and many others.

get the pulse of – measure, understand (get the pulse of the market means understand what people are thinking and what they want)
head in – go inside (it’s cold out so head in/go in to get warm)

This time i am not in luck to get 6 / 10 yet. In test#2 i missed to choose “to have the pulse of” horror films releases; In test#3 i “got the finger on the market”; In test#4 i “couldn’t get my thumb up for decision”; And finally i “muscled through the cold weather” in the test#8. So it had come with.
