w
sound in English correctly? A lot of students mix up the v
and w
sounds in English. It’s a problem, because it will sound like you are saying completely different words, and people won’t understand you! For instance, west
is a direction, but a vest
is something you wear. Learn how to say V
and W
correctly in this pronunciation lesson.

can i have your skype i have a couple questions, if you not mind
thanks,have good day ^_^
Dear Ronnie, First of all I do adore your videos here on Engvid. Honestly, I am an ESL teacher in Jakarta and I use some of your ideas in my classes on certain topics. Thank you so much.
About this video, I still don’t get it why people make a difference with the V and W. I’ve seen “some” countries in the world and in all of them there is a clearly difference between the V and W when they speak English. The only problem I find is when i ask my students to spell the word vacuum. Most of them say V-A-C-double U-M…
Please keep making these wonderful videos :)
I can’t tell you anything about other languages but in my language (I’m Hungarian, by the way)there is no difference in pronunciation of the V and W. The difference is just in the written language. So same pronunciation but different spelling. But this video finally clarified it to me. Thanks for the video, I mean many, many, many thanks.
I think that’s way people get confused. (I forgot to write this down.)
I like too.
Dear Ronnie wonderful videos :
Hi Ronnie,
Thank you. But please use “Persian” instead of “Farsi”. Farsi is a word for Arabic language people who can’t spell “P”.
Thank you Ronnie~~
I clearly understand my lip position between V and W.
Thank you mam Ronnie for your all fantastic lessons.they are very useful. would you please answer my one question. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
MY QUESTION IS BLEW-:
HOW DO we use ‘How do you do’ AND CAN’T I USE IT WITH MY BROTHERS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY?
IS IT ONLY USED WHEN WE INTRODUCE SOMEONE OR IT CAN BE USED WITH THE SAME PERSON OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
THANK YOU!
We say ‘How do you do?’ when a third person is being introduced to you. Whether you shake hands with this third person your response should be as well ‘How do you do?’ but just with another intonation
Nice to meet you, Ronnie. Finally I could sign in.
I like your teaching. V and F are difficult for me.
F’s pronunciation is same with V, isn’t it?
This video is useful. Thank you :)
Yes, we’d like to have more videos with you :D

Hello Ronnie, thank you so much for your interesting lessons, I watch your videos everday, they help me so much improving my English.

Hello,Firstly,Thank you very much,Ronnie,I am a english beginner , I have a confusion about ‘groove’ .The word groove as you said means ‘dance’, but in the dictionary of our country it means ‘cannelure’.they are very different from each other.so could you explain it.Thanks again.
Okay, so “groove” has several meanings! In slang, it means “dance”. But “groove” (noun) is also the word for a long, narrow dent — like on a vinyl record or a cut in a piece of wood. “Cannelure” is a technical term for the groove around a bullet, and it’s unlikely to be used by anyone who doesn’t know a lot about guns!
*-* thanks. We Brazilians don’t have this problem I think haha. You are a great teacher.
Hi, Ronnie! Thanks for your lessons! :)
Now I’m living in Canada- Alberta. I regret that I’m not living in Toronto:( do you have English courses in Toronto or May be in other cities?
Also I have problem with my pronunciation, can you recommend book, or courses? It’s a really big problem for me. I see word, I know its meaning , but I can’t tell it because I know that I tell word with mistake:(
how about the “V” and “three” ?
I don’t know why the people don’t understand me when I saying “V”.
Hi, I’m from Poland. I don’t think that Polish people find V and W pronunciation difficult. It is pretty clear for us :)
:)
Italian guys has the same sound with: UO-mo, UO-vo = “W”
Ronnie, you are so funny.
Thanks for your class
First I’ve find out that these sounds are a problem for me, when I tried to say “vowel”. That was tricky) Thanks, Ronnie, for your amazing lessons and especially for this one)
thank you for the lesson, spanish is my native language, so it is not hard to me see the differences between v and w :)
thank you. i like your character very much.
Ronnie’s lesson is lovely
very funny lesson haha. Thank you very much <3
Interesting lesson, Ronnie. It’s a good example of your concern with students from different countries and cultures. For brazilians – portuguese speaking people – there is no problem with V and W pronunciation. For us it’s more problematic the pronunciation of words ending in -ed, topic that was already (well) explained by your colleague Adam in a specific lesson. Many thanks to EngVid Team!
Thank you for lesson.
I got a lot of sense from this video. Thank you Teacher Ronnie.
Wawww , thank you so much
