When you go to another country, it is just as important to learn about the culture and the laws as it is the language. In North America, we try to be polite to everyone, including to the police. In this lesson, you will learn the proper way to behave when being stopped by a police officer. Some vocabulary and expressions you will need to understand include driver's license, fine, bail money, courts, under arrest, breaking the law, and more. It is very important to know what your rights are in the event you do get in trouble, so watch this lesson and stay safe.
This is going to be very important lesson I guess for m, Thanks for you James made this sort of lesson..
Sivakumar
Breaking the law has never crossed my mind, but in the mean time . . . I’ll go over the lesson to learn some vocab and expressions; just in case I get into trouble.

Hello James .
Thank you for this lesson . I know it is important to be polite in any occasion and whatever people your are talking with but why some police person hasn’t been told that ? politness is a rule not a law , and as you said , a rule can be personal.
Few things i would like to know :
– If you are let off of jail because you paid a bail and you are found not guilty the day you are before the court , do you get you money back ?
– if you don’t have enough money for a bail after being arrested and put in jail , and finaly you are released because found not guilty , do you get a compensation for having being wrongly imprisoned ?
What is the less important infraction you can be put in jail for in Canada ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
tsamp
In my country, you get your money back and of course you can sue authorities for compensation if you’ve been imprisoned unjustly

Thanks a bunch for this handy class, it was very significant understand some rules and laws in many countries which people speak English, rules and laws that are not so differents from my country and I think that in quite nations have a similar legal behavior, obviously there will be a territories that not have these kind of laws. I had one wrong answer and I believe was because I was confused when you was teaching us that when a child, e,g. did some wrong, this guy could receive a punishment, and in the question that speaks about this there was a opción with this information, severe punishment and jail, I finished for choosing the second, how I tell you, I though that punishment was referring only to that sort of bad behavior, respectfully to children, But anyway it was a slight error that I am going to keep in mind, ahh by the way be polite is always a outstanding strategy of the life in any situation… …I would like to ask you a lesson about how to use “by and for”, Profoundly grateful
