in English words. I’ll also show you lots of example words that you can practice pronouncing correctly. I’ve chosen the most common words with these silent letters, so that even if you don’t remember the rules, you’ll still know how to pronounce these common words correctly. This is also a great chance for you to improve your spelling.

Thanks Emma for the new lessons.
me too 10/10 :)
Congrats to both of you! Keep up the good work!
Frankly speaking, I didn’t know there were rules for when not to pronounce some letters in English until now.
I learned to pronounce many of these words as they come up. However,I was always aware of silent letters in the English language.
Superb lesson on pronunciation Emma.
Bye for now.
Thanks it is important for me.
Me too!!

Hi Emma,
You missed to explain the words pledge, grudge, dodge, and chalk.
Pledge is like promise or obligation
Grudge is hate and malice
Dodge is Avoid
Chalk, actually i can’t explain it well but i’ll try xD, is the thing you write with on the board ,it’s
a soft white limestone
Hope I Helped:)!
Thank you HannaMuhammad
You helped me a lot :)
I got 10/10 ! Becouse I have read already 40-50 books ! ) Maybe a little more … ) Anyway, thank you (my lovely engVid) for your beautyfull work !!! Best wiches. You student and friend Wladislav Hamitovich. )
Dear Vladkabatkovich, please check the word (wiches)correct is(wishes)have a nice time.
Thank you Emma ,
Are there rules for the pronounciation of “i”
Sometimes it is pronouced in its spelling form and other times like a “e” or like a shwa sound . It sounds weird when you don’t know the word with an “i” you are saying and you mispronounce it , worse than a word with silent consonant .
Hope you can make a lesson on that
Bye
10/10 Thank you very much for the excellent explanation!!
I made the score 10/10. Thanks Emma!
Hi Dear Emma

Nice lesson as usual ;)
It’s wonderful
Thank you very much , Emma. The lesson is very useful. Now I guess ,why when I read and then I listen the same text ,it sounds differently ,more softly . The reason is in silent b,d and l. As was said , the secret is in simple things.
10/10 for these words, i hope, i wouldn’t forget their pronunciation while talking.
can i ask you a question? i’ve been testing myself for over a year. And all results i reached that i was upper-intermediate. how could i take a leap forward from upper-intermediate to advanced? by that i mean, from now on,what should i very work on?
Hi Sebernet
I think you should read more in English in order to improve your writing skills .
As well, you need to watch English movies without translation or subtitles, and listen more to improve your pronunciation and listening skills .
wish you all the best :)
Thanks Emma.I made 10/10 in first try. This lesson is really necessary for me to study. I look forward to hearing more silent word from you.

Thanks Emma for this video, it was very interesting!
Thanks Emma it is an intresting lesson I got 100 out of 100 .
Wow, what an interesting lesson! Thanks Emma!
Thank you Emma. I think the reason why even natives want to say b as in subtle is maybe due to subtitles. Because b as in subtitles is pronounced and looks similar at a grance, isn’t it?
Thank you for your great effort ??
Brilliant Lesson Emma.
I got it everything!

Hello teacher ,
Your lessons are so magnificent, keep teaching like that .
Well ,there is one word that no clear for me this is the word “scramble”,can we pronounce b ?
Thank so much for teaching.
Hi Danny. That rule in the lesson refer to ‘mb’ at the end of a word, so in ‘scramble’ letter ‘b’ is not silent. rgds ;)
Yes finally I made 10/10
Excuse me mam,’B’ is not pronounced after ‘t’ you had written.Either ‘B’ is not pronounced before ‘t’ or after ‘t’? Please clarify me ,Mam.
Nice Emma, it’s really awesome and helpful for foreigner learner. With due respect Emma on board you wrote B will be silent after t but I thing it would be written before t…….I am sure you wouldn’t mind….
Nice video
Thanks for the lesson
You can’t. Our teachers make money when people watch the videos on Youtube, and this lets us provide lessons for free. We hope you understand!

Thank You for this lesson, I’m very interested on pronunciation. More of this would be great.
Best Regards.
thank you for your good lesson
Really I enjoyed myself watching the video lesson, I’ve benefited a lot Emma.thx
As we know that always there is an exceptions. Right !
Many thanks Emma.
When will the next letters?
I found a difference in pronunciation with other words (eg: sword which is pronounced “sord” and sworn which is pronounced “sWorn”).
Thank you
“Sword” is the only word I can think of with a silent “w”, unless you count “two”. Very strange. English is full of these random exceptions.
Maybe, but I’ve already heard other phenomena of this kind with, mainly the letters S, T, P, D and H and also a few vowels. As for the W I think there’s also the word “answer”. When I listen to WordReference I don’t hear any W.
You’re right, I completely forgot about that one!
Also ,Write ,
