compliment
has the same meaning as praise
and means to say nice things about people. The opposite of that is to criticize
. It is never easy to criticize politely. Find out how to do just that in this useful lesson on compliments and criticism. In this video, you will learn how to give praise in English and also how to tell people what they are doing wrong. You will also learn the meaning of other words like critique
and critic
. Avoid being rude or awkward, and learn how to achieve constructive results when talking to people about good and bad things!

My compliments James for his amayzing lessons. One moment, please: the fifth question of the Quiz is wrong answer, course in the lesson right answer is compliment.
You’re right. The wrong answer was selected. We’ve fixed this mistake. Thanks for letting us know!
Could any of the teachers do a lesson on court room english? Sometimes if perusing the Internet you get the Impression that half the english language consists of it. It´s important.
Thanx.
Hi James! I tend to say criticism. And maybe I’m cynic and sometimes pessimist although I’m trying not to be so. That’s no good.

só para brasileiros: “cynic” é um falso cognato (false friend), nao tem o sentido de “desavergonhado”.
You’re right! I used this word incorrectly before because in Portuguese it has a different meaning. Now I know the correct meaning of “cynic”.

Thanks and carry on .
Hello! Thanks for your lessons. I’ve just found this site last week, and I saw many of the lessons. I wanted to leave a message to the site administrator, but I couldn’t find any e-mail address or contact page. My plan is to watch all the videos on the site. I would like to suggest to have a filter for those who are registered to the site to see which videos have already seen. I think after a while it will be hard to find always where I need to continue my progress. I think it would be very useful. Thanks again for your hard work.
That’s a good idea! I’ll pass it along.
Really useful. I tried to do the same, but I didn’t find any contact. Is will be good to got some progress status also. It is not a criticism, I know the site is free, and I am grateful (I am not flattering, lol) it is just a sugesttion…

But i can’t believe, that you’ve found negative word pessimist, and haven’t found positive optimist =). Also etymology of the word cinyc, this stuff with greeks and dog’s behavior is very interesting, i’m going to investigate it further.

can i ask a simple question ? what is the difference between ILETS & TOFEL ? and wich one i really need to live and work in Canada for example ?
for an intermediate student ,what would you suggest to read( as books or novels ) why don’t we have an engvid library to discuss & suggest books of all types , what do you think of that ?
also , some sites say that sth takes the cake it could means the most in both good and bad ways … is that true ?
