05/07. Thank you jade!
Hello, Jade, can I say? your lesson was that good!
Good evening Jade! Sorry for troubling but after the word “said” you used the present perfect – has not arrived. Is it correct or it must be past perfect – had not arrived? Would You be so kind to explain that to us all? Thank You so much indeed!
You are referring to video at 4:18. This is very good question, that I don’t know how to answer and I am also interested in some kind of explanation.
Lets analyze this little bit more that we understand what is actually the point Tarasevol is making. What did they actually say? Like I understand, they literally said: “Package has not arrived.” When ‘reported statement’ is used ‘one tense back’ rule should be followed. But in the video this rule is not used: “They said (that) the package has not arrived.” But if the one-tense-rule is followed there should be: “They said (that) the package had not arrived.” So past perfect instead of present perfect used in video.
May I kindly ask for explanation?
Thank You very much! I’m waiting for the response from Jade. I hope she’ll share her opinion on that point.
I got 6/7 and worng at number 4, I fell a bit confusing when the correct answer is ‘that’s a shame, I really don’t understand, please expain to me Jade, thanks
This is explained in video starting at 6:24 and till 7:14. He or she didn’t get the job. The phrase to sympathize with the speaker is: “That’s a pity” or “That’s too bad” or “That’s a shame”.
Don’t worry ;), I also made the same mistake.
