Received Pronunciation
, or “RP” for short. It’s also known as BBC English
, Oxford English
, and The Queen's English
. I’ll teach you what this accent means and signifies in England today. You may be surprised to learn that it’s not entirely positive. Some people even try to hide their RP accent. I will also give you the history of RP. You’ll learn where it comes from and how it developed. You will be able to hear for yourself what this accent sounds like, and how it has changed over time.

Thank you Benjamin
I dont understand ?
Great video as well as great teacher. I am trying to improve but still struggling and thinking about different languages whose are the founder of these. It seem to very interested. There are many languages spoke in the world and who to shape these speaking stuff like grammar vocabulary and many more.
This is a topic that I always am trying to learn, how to understand the different types of accent in English, and now I have realized that it’s possible to speak in a regional neutral middle-class accent to transmit our ideas and thoughts. The evolution of the language sounds maybe only a form of expression. Thanks a lot, teacher Benjamin, it has been a very interesting and entertaining video class about the accents.
Excuse me? But it was boring.
I totally agree with you
It is good that he teaches us also about the background of an accent of English. Language is a part of history and it is useful to learn about the evolution of it ;)
