thank you very much for teaching these rules to us

Benjarosit

Thank you Rebecca!

Actually, I got some question on the resource example page “Learn hundreds of words with the suffixes” which you’ve shared in the link.

I used the Oxford Dictionary to check on some words, and found that there a lot of basic words actually can go with “-lessness and -lessly” under the column of “Some base words take only the -less suffix”. For example: “name – nameless – namelessly – namelessness”

Is that a rule we can apply when we try to use a suffix?

Thank you again for the lesson and the sharing. Stay healthy :) (learnt it from your lesson about COVID-19)

I didn’t understand a fourth question:

4. Can you say both “sleepful” and “sleepless”?
Yes, you can say both.
No, you can only say “sleepful”.
No, you can only say “sleepless”.

I replied: Yes, you can say both. But the exercise evaluated it as wrong.

Can anyone tell me why the correct answer is: No, you can only say “sleepless”. Please?

jayborba

Professor Rebecca, your teaching style is very clear, and you are the best English teacher I’ve ever known! Thanks:-)
