Hey Ronnie , i was trying to find a lesson for know how to “negociate“ the rent price.. Do you understand what i am trying to tell? So i was thinking in say for example.. “Originally my idea was to stay here for more than six months.. so i was just wondering if you could make the rent price for two hundred“ .. Is this acceptable? Could the people understand? Thanks in advance

Lucas

I understand what you mean but unfortunately, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to bargain with a landlord! Try though, you might get lucky!

teacher, i want to know why bachelor apartment is not only for a men. i saw, you said bachelor is not for sharing?

MaiHuongNguyenThi

I’m not Ronnie, but I suppose two people can share a bachelor… And on the other hand, it would be for a person (not for a man or for a woman…. I think).

    ruben

A bachelor is very small in Canada so it is only for 1 person – either man or woman. “Bachelor? means an unmarried man!

      Ronnie

        “Bachelor” means an unmarried man!

I am Sona Sharma from India.I have been a member of this educational site for more than one year.I wanna get my basic concept about English tenses cleared by you. After reading newspaper, watching movies, chatting with people online, I have figured out that an action word known as verb is the most important word in English that I need to know to express an action.Imagine,I feel thirsty.I need to have some water to quench my thirst. Then I perform an action called “drinking”.If I am not familiar with this word ,I can’t express what I want.People simply use this action word in different tenses to refer to different point of time like I drank a glass of water after returning from work yesterday as my throat had dried up.In my previous sentence ,I have used it in the past tense to express that I am not thirsty now but I was..
I am just a begginer.plz help me to learn this language well and also check out my sentences

Sona Sharma

Yes, your idea about tenses is correct! Very good!

    Ronnie

      you are the greates techer

      apinaya

hi lovely teacher
pls tell me what is different betwen arrive in and arrive at? i mean when we use which word.

    Arrive at= a place. I arrived at school/home/the airport.
    Arrived in= a city/country. I arrived in Japan.

Really useful vocabulary! If sometime I might rent a house I would use the right words! Do you know Ronnie? The word “condo(minium)” is a “false friend” of the word “condominio” in Italian. We use it to indicate a sum of money we pay every month for lights, lift, cleaning up…. of the block of flats we live in. Thanks for your help!

maria

That’s good to know! Small correction: condominium and condominio are actually cognates, not false friends—they both come from the Latin condominium. A lot of English words come from Latin, so there are many Italian-English cognates, like insalata / salad or teatro / theatre.

Hello Ronnie,

Thank you for your efforts to help people like me to learn right English.

I did listen to -ION lesson. I have a concern, I think -tion and -ssion are pronounced -shin not -ion because if only -ion you have to leave the t in the original word and to remove only -ion and replace by -shin.In action for example, it would be actshin while the right is acshin. Can you please comment on that.

Reda

Hi Ronnie, I’m an italian realtor, so I enjoyed this lesson very much! I speak english with my foreign clients and it would be great for me if I could improve my “technical” vocabulary (speaking of heating, kind of rooms, furniture etc). In my job I translate from italian to english, but I don’t know how natives talk about apartments and renting apartments. I know that it’s a very specific request, and probably I’m the only one interested on it….. lol
Thanks for your time, I LOVE the way you teach! (and please forgive my mistakes…)

Ronnie Hello from this weird land that I am sometimes thinking that is not my birdland because I miss so much Canada and I don´t know why lol…Passing to the specific point here thanks for give us these handy advice, I was wrong in several question of the quiz but no matter in exaggeration I always I am learning (I believe) from my mistakes…I thought that in America, well speaking about North America people was using more the room shares indeed that there is so many “aliens”(ET lol)Well I could understand that still there is spaces for living with more air..lol..I was in grateful to discover that new word compound word Land-lord that have differents acceptations too and it’s in the metaphysic plane if you want…I had understood from other lessons (I don´t know which the teacher was ) that Bachelor was only to men, single men..And the last question how people say in my Colombian land…it’s a foolish question, always there´s one of them in the exams A big kiss you obviously are the best Master ever(If I can point this word)
