10/10 Hi EngVid I’ll appreciate if you gives us a lesson about measures. How to measure something. Because is a question of scale sometimes you use the feet units others the inch units. For us it’s very confused because in Europe (not in UK) we are used to use meters. thank you all

Thanks Ronny!

Hello Everyone …
I’d like to ask about any specific difference between these words: gather and collect, gain and obtain?
Thanks in advance
Hi Majd:
I don’t believe that there is a large difference between “gather” and “collect” but I think we should use “collect” when it’s specific ,when the things are liked or related. On the other hand, “gather” is a general term,,we gather without worrying about what we are having.
For gain and obtain:
I relate obtain with physical doing,,you win something after making an effort that means you obtain it.
While gain means to have or win something you had always wanted or needed without working very hard.
“the match obtains fame for him”
“finally I gain a novel as a present”
that what I think I hope it’s right and helpful :)
Hi Rahaf …
That was satisfying clarification.
I appreciate your effort, thanks :)
Thanks teacher Ronnie :)
Thanks you Ronnie ;)
that was great lesson!
Good lesson. Very practical words
Ronnie best!!! Thank you!!
Ronni,
Good lesson, thanks. please some more practical grammer lessons. Lots of examples with Condditionals, definit and indefinit articles, verb order. Can you make a divition of teacher’s work? Best wishes
Thanks Ronnie :)
thanx Ronnie :)
Thanks a lot!
Thank you Ronnie, but I have one question why in Canada they use the measure of feet instead of measure meter.
I think it might be because we’re right next to the United States, where they use feet for everything. So we measure some things in feet (like height) but other things in metres (distances between cities, etc.).
It’s because in Canada we used to use the American measurements for almost everything. Then in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the government started changing to the metric system of meters, and so on. However, this was very unpopular, so it was abandoned before the process was complete. So we use kilometers for driving, and celsius for temperature, but still use feet for height…
Metric system is interentional mesure from International System of Units SI and Canada were a French colony not British therefore feet is only US addictions.
Dear Engvid, This Ronnie’s video lesson should be 116th video, not 117th video. :)

Ronnie I like you. Would You understand me what this gesture meaning like in my avatar both hand left and right point finger and ringfinger looks like v v and then it flexion and extension of joints That’s interest theme for people you may appreciate my finding ’cause gesture even sometimes different in other coutries when Bulgarians say no they noddle )
Around here we would call it “air quotes”. It’s used when speaking to convey skepticism or sarcasm, like how you would use “scare quotes” in writing. E. g. “Oh, he’s ‘too sick’ to come to work today” means you don’t actually think he’s too sick, but is making excuses.
Usualy we use quote only to show the frafment of text is quted from another auther inderect speach also rerealy inderext meaning sometimes we wink this a flirt or perhaps inderect meaning.
Ok Ronnie I got your wisdom I won’t screw so much ;)
