“Alike” can be an adjective and adverb. When we say “They treated all customers alike” it’s an adverb. But if we say “He thinks all politicans are alike” here “alike” is an adjective. When we compare two things, we use it in the place of verb. For example,”My sister and I are alike”. This is a comparison between two things. “Like” is an adjective. And when we want to show a similarity with the help of “like”, we use it at the beginning of the sentence. As in video lesson “Like Canada, England has many immigrants”. As you can see, we used “like” at the beginning of the sentence. But when we state the similarities with the help of “alike”, we use it at the end of the sentence in the place of verb. Hope this explanation will help you.

Hi,
This time something went wrong I got only 7 of 9. But I feel similar as I got 9 of 9, that means I feel good an more and more confident with English. I know I make a lot of similar mistakes but nobody is perfect. Learning curve at the beginning is similar to everyone who steps on the ladder of English lessons.
